E.T. never went home ... he morphed into a fence in Lincolnshire

E.T. never went home ... he morphed into a fence in Lincolnshire. E.T. didn't really go home ... he morphed into a fence panel in Lincolnshire.

The alien's head was spotted on the wooden panel of a house in Gainsborough by Jackie Wollaston as she put out the washing.

'I couldn't believe it when I saw it,' said the mother of five. 'This shape just appeared in the wood, and it looked just like E.T.

When my son came downstairs he pointed out a similar shape a bit further down.

'He says one is a girl, and one is a boy but I'm not sure how he can tell!'

She says the shapes on the fencing, which was put up six months ago, appeared after a thunderstorm.

'It was quite strange suddenly seeing it there. I suppose it must be something to do with the wood being affected by the water,' she added.

Jackie, 44, is unconvinced that the pattern is evidence of extra-terrestial life - but puts the images in the same category as mysterious happenings such as crop circles.

'I certainly didn't paint this on,' she said. 'None of us are good enough at painting to do that.

'I'm not a big sci-fi fan, but I did watch E.T. and I used to have a cuddly toy version but I'm not sure there are real aliens out there.'

When she saw the images Jackie took a photograph of them and told all her friends that 'E.T. had come home'.

'I think those people who hadn't seen the pictures thought I had gone a bit mad,' she added.

'But I have had a few people round to come and have a look at them, and they were quite impressed.' (
