Goalkeeper sent-off after 10 seconds

Goalkeeper sent-off after 10 seconds - A lot of preparation goes into a football match - you train all week, you do all the pre-match stretches, and you psyche yourself up.

Therefore, it is not exactly ideal to get yourself sent-off after just 10 seconds of the game itself.

However, that is exactly what happened to Ebbsfleet United goalkeeper Preston Edwards last weekend in a Conference South clash against Farnborough.

To be fair to Edwards, he wasn't exactly helped out by his team-mate Ryan Blake, whose under-hit backpass put him in trouble.

That 'pass' was easily intercepted by Farnborough's Kezie Ibe; the striker then rounded Edwards, but was brought down before he could put the ball into the back of the net.

Edwards was immediately given his marching orders by referee Neil Hair, and it was patently clear that the goalkeeper was less than pleased with the decision.

To compound Ebbsfleet's misery, they did not have a substitute goalkeeper waiting on the bench, so 18-year-old midfielder Tom Phipp was forced to take the gloves.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Ebbsfleet subsequently went on to lose the match 3-0.
